In the UK, fires and explosions are a major cause of loss and damage in the process industry. Many processes utilise flammable liquids, vapours or gases that introduce the risk of fire and explosion hazards. It is essential therefore, that personnel responsible understand the fundamental principles of how the hazards can develop and how they can be controlled.
The Dangerous Substances and Explosive Atmospheres Regulations (DSEAR) came into force on 9th December 2002. DSEAR requires employers to take all necessary measures to ensure the health and safety of workers where dangerous substances, including liquids, vapours and gases, are being handled. Requirements have been established regarding employer and worker responsibilities and training, safety systems and procedures and technical risk assessment.
This course is designed to give you an appreciation of fire and explosion hazards associated with the handling of flammable liquids, vapours and gases (including LPG). You will learn how to identify, assess and combat potential risks in accordance with DSEAR standards. We will provide practical advice that will be easy to implement to help prevent loss and ultimately, protect profit.
